John Leguizamo didn’t hold back in criticizing Dean Cain after the former Superman actor announced his intention to become an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent.
In a video posted to his Instagram on Friday, Leguizamo asked, “What kind of loser volunteers to be an ICE officer? What a moron. Dean Cain, your pronouns are has/been.”

Dean Cain, best known for playing Superman in the 1990s TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has recently returned to the spotlight amid the success of Warner Bros. and DC Studios’ new Superman film. Before the movie’s release, Cain publicly criticized director James Gunn for describing Superman as an “immigrant” and accused Hollywood of making the iconic character “woke.”
On Fox News last Wednesday, Cain revealed plans to be “sworn in as an ICE agent, ASAP,” claiming that the United States was built on patriots stepping up regardless of popularity, and that joining ICE was “the right thing” to do.
Leguizamo has been a vocal advocate for Latino representation in Hollywood. In 2020, he told People magazine, “We’re less than 1% of the stories told by Hollywood and streaming media and networks when we’re almost 20% of the population, 25% of the U.S. box office. I just feel like it’s such a damage to kids not to see themselves reflected back in positive ways.”
Meanwhile, in July, Congress approved a massive increase in ICE’s funding, boosting its annual budget from $8 billion to nearly $28 billion, making it the highest-funded law enforcement agency in the federal government. Recently, ICE also removed its age limit for applicants, which previously accepted only individuals aged 21 to 40.
