Jimmy Kimmel Gains Italian Citizenship Amid Concerns Over Trump Presidenc

Is Jimmy Kimmel Planning to Leave the U.S. Under a Second Donald Trump Presidency? The Comedian Secures Italian Citizenship Amid Growing Concerns

Is late-night host Jimmy Kimmel preparing to leave the United States if Donald Trump returns to the White House? While his longstanding commitment to ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! may keep him tied to American television, the comedian has already made a backup plan: acquiring Italian citizenship in 2025.

In a revealing interview on The Sarah Silverman Podcast, Kimmel opened up about his increasing concerns regarding the political climate in the U.S. “A lot of people I know are thinking about where they’d get citizenship,” said Sarah Silverman, referring to widespread unease about a possible Trump victory.

“I got Italian citizenship,” Kimmel responded. “What’s happening is worse than you think. Much worse—unbelievably so.”

Jimmy Kimmel Takes a Stand Against Donald Trump

Kimmel has been an outspoken critic of Donald Trump throughout his presidency and beyond, often taking aim during his monologues. In retaliation, Trump once declared that Jimmy Kimmel Live! could be the next late-night show to get canceled, following CBS’s decision to end The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Kimmel fired back with his trademark sarcasm: “I heard you’re next. Or maybe it’s just another one of those great secrets,” a biting reference to a 2003 letter Donald Trump reportedly sent to Jeffrey Epstein—a detail that resurfaced in the media recently.

Celebrities Continue to Flee Amid Political Unrest

Kimmel isn’t the only celebrity exploring a life outside of the United States due to Trump-era anxieties. Actress and comedian Rosie O’Donnell, another vocal Trump critic, has relocated to Ireland. When asked if she plans to return to the U.S., O’Donnell responded, “With the current political situation, when will it ever be safe to come back with my child? I’m not rushing back until this administration is completely over.”

A Message of Empathy and Openness

Despite his sharp critiques, Jimmy Kimmel emphasized that he holds no resentment toward people who once supported Trump but have since reconsidered. “If you want to change your mind, that’s very hard to do. If you want to admit you were wrong, that’s extremely difficult and rarely happens,” Kimmel stated. “The door should always be open.”
