- 1 chenille stem (pipe cleaner)
- An old barrette, or a new barrette clip
- Hot glue gun, or needle and thread
Step by Step Instructions
- Thread enough pony beads onto a pipe cleaner (chenille stem) so that it will cover the surface of the barrette you will be attaching it to. (I used a dark pipe cleaner because it disappears, but for a bit of bling, you could use a silver or gold metallic one.) See photo 1.
- Photo 2 shows the correct amount of beads to cover the barrette.
- Twist the two ends of the chenille stem.
- The beads ready to attach to the barrette. You may either cut off the excess chenille stem or turn it under the beads.
- and 6: Either hot glue the beads on the barrette, or sew on with a needle and thread. To sew on, wrap the thread all around the barrette, and through a space between the beads. Be careful to open up the barrette first, so you don’t accidentally sew it closed!
4. Flip Flops in Patriotic Colors

Give your summer footwear a festive twist! Wrap flip-flop straps with colorful fabric strips, ribbon, or even yarn in red, white, and blue. Add small embellishments like buttons, rhinestones, or star cutouts for a personalized touch.

- Red, White or Blue Flip Flops {We bought at local craft store}
- Red White or Blue Fake Flowers One for each flip flop
- Patriotic Ribbon {We used blue and red glitter}
- Glue Gun

Step by Step Instructions
- Gather your materials and heat up your glue gun.
- Measure your chosen ribbon to the length of one side of a flip flop strap. Cut strip, and make three more to cover each strap side.
- Apply a small strip of glue to one side of the flip flop and place the ribbon directly onto the middle of the strap. Do this for each side of the flip flops.
- Cut your flower stem off and pull plastic piece off bottom of flower top. Apply a large amount of glue to middle of the flip flop strap. This is where your flower top will go.
- Immediately place flower onto center of glue and press firmly for about a minute to secure.
- Once all of your flowers have dried and are secure, put your flip flops on and dance around! You now look great for the 4th of July!
5. 4th of July Beaded Amulet
